Firefox Live Bookmarks

By | 2nd February 2006

A colleague was stumped by how to add a Live Bookmark for Guido’s blog in Firefox. It turns out that to do that, the page offering the feed must have an alternate link in its header. The software that artima.com uses for its weblogs doesn’t do that, so I’ve hacked together an ugly little script to help out.

It’s available for use at https://www.wrigley.me.uk/mklive/ There’s even a bookmarklet (!). Any criticisms about brokenness will, I’m afraid, likely fall on deaf ears. It may or may not work for you, and I doubt it will be used by anyone.

So there we go.

    Help me please…
I just installed Firefox 2.0, and all of a sudden, my username/password isn't being inserted in the signon window (it always was before). I tried the usual suspects–I did not mistakenly tell FF not to remember the password for this site; and I also tried the remember password bookmarklet, but all to no avail–FF will not ask me to remember this password. What do I need to do to get around this?
