Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurant in Birmingham

Finally, we’ve discovered a decent vegan restaurant in relatively nearby.

Sibila’s Restaraunt is an organic vegetarian restaurant and is attached to a health spa, Body and Being.

The restaurant is a short walk from Brindley Place in Birmingham, and overlooks one of the canals. It’s quite small, with a modern, but quite intimate, feel to it. The menu features a decent selection of entirely vegetarian dishes conjured up by the chef, Sibila. A very good proportion of the dishes are also vegan or at least have a vegan option. It was lovely for Hannah to be able to have a real choice for a change.

Hannah had a smoked tofu “thing” with really nice roasted new potatoes. I had a pasta dish made from enormous, perfectly al dente shells with squash and chick peas. It was delicious, and much more interesting flavours than the usual “something red” with pasta.

For Hannah, the highlight was probably being able to have a proper dessert. They have a pretty wide range of cakes and many of them are vegan. Hannah had a Chocolate Gateau served with strawberry tofutti (vegan icecream) and I had a banana and pecan gateau with cream. We were very pushed for time due to horrible traffic getting home from work, but the staff were very accomodating and friendly.

We will certainly be back for seconds. It isn’t open late most of the week, but is over the weekend. I think we’ll have to pop in for coffee and cake next time we’re shopping.

Thoroughly recommended.
