What’s so civil about war, anyway?

I don’t suppose anybody isn’t aware of this but…

WE’RE AT WAR! and the stupid yanks have already killed a load of our guys.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t know how I feel about the war in Iraq.

I’m pretty apathetic about most political issues, and this isn’t much different. I have some distinct reservations about it, but it’s happening now and I don’t think there’s much we can do about it. I know we can’t believe all we’re told by the media, although I do have this strange kind of trust in the BBC for some reason, but I don’t really know how to be better informed without relying on the media.

I think it’s fair to say that Saddam Hussein is an evil dictator, and I guess that if he’s oppressing people that something should be done about it. On the other hand, if it’s mainly his own people that are being oppressed, surely they can overthrow him if they really want to.

I don’t really understand the whole thing about weapons of mass destruction, either. We have them, the Americans have them, I would think most countries in the UN have them. What gives us the right to dictate who can and can not have them?

So, in this rather wittering expression of my current thoughts on the situation, I have concluded that I don’t know what I think about it.

In which case, it’s all just so much Gentleman’s Relish, and we should blow them all away.Perhaps.

In other news, I’m going up to Birmingham on my bike tonight. Hope that all goes OK. Kind of looking forward to it, but kind of apprehensive. I’m not sure I’m going to like that distance on Motorways and A roads, but we’ll see.

I’ll get on with some work now, I think. I just met my new manager from Monday, so it looks like I’m going, whatever happens. I got some problems raised late yesterday afternoon, which annoyed me, so I went home after struggling with them for a while. I have an idea of how to fix one of them, no idea about the other, and I still have to update the spec. All today. w00t!
