Horses, pah

By | 9th April 2003

Well it’s been a while since I updated, so I’d better do it now. I’m at work an hour early, because I had to drop Hannah off at the station so she could go to work. Freezing it is, hmm? There was frost on the saddle, and Storm took ages to warm up. Teach me to forget to cover her up.

We had a lovely time in the New Forest, although we both had a touch of Gut Rot for some reason. Probably had something to do with eating an entire box of Terry’s All Gold, that Hannah bought me for an anniversary gift, in one day.

We went horse riding on sunday morning, which was quite fun. I haven’t ridden in about 10 years. We rode into the forest a short way and saw a number of deer, which was nice. Hannah was almost immediately complaining about her posterior. I thought I was fine, but it took a while to catch up with me.

We then decided to find somewhere to have a cuppa and dropped into a garden centre a few hundred metres down the road from the riding school. We were sitting there quietly supping our (8!) cups of tea, when I thought I recognised somebody as my cousin David’s fiancée, Anna. Indeed it was her, and David was there too. Of all the garden centres in all of Hampshire we had to drop into his. He’s managed it for a while now and, while I knew he was based somewhere around the New Forest, I hadn’t even considered it might be his. So that was a nice surprise.

After that, we went to Burley Country Market where we bought scones and crisps and listened to a rather bad Wurzelsesque band, who unfortunately included some rather bad verse of some kind. I think it was meant to be risqué in a rather crude way, but the woman’s voice was so grating I didn’t understand it.

We then went home, feeling a little delicate, and spent the rest of the day snuggled up in our double bed watching TV.

That’ll do, pig, that’ll do.
