Rockbox – initial reaction

By | 27th April 2006

I’ve just installed rockbox on my ipod. It’s a replacement firmware whatsit that works on a few different mp3 players and supports ogg, flac etc and works with a filesystem structure (no more itunes!) although it has quite powerful support for playlists that I haven’t played with yet. It’s also themeable (see screenshot). It has all sorts of funkiness like being able to play doom or tetris and the like and the sound quality is extremely configurable. I can also safely boot back into the original Apple firmware if I need to (I will need to do so to play videos, as rockbox doesn’t do that yet).

What about more screenshots (e.g. of the games) and other features it provides! šŸ™‚
